So with Valentines day fast approaching I decided to do some crafting, all of it from Pinterest of course!
First up is a valentines wreath! I adore wreaths, I want to make them for every holiday, birthday, special occasion, season change, or just a Tuesday! With that being said, I should divulge that I have only attempted 4 wreaths in my Pinterest crafting adventures, a Halloween yarn wrap, a 4th of July felt wreath, a vine wreath with fabric flowers, and a vine wreath with fake flowers for my moms door.
So this is the cute yarn wrap Halloween wreath. Now if you're like me and you hear "yarn wrap" you think, heck yeah I can TOTALLY do that and you can, but hear me when I say this.....it's a whole lotta yarn people. I guess I didn't fully grasp what wrapping yarn around a little styrofoam circle would encompass buuuut, I do now! After hours, I literally mean hourS, of wrapping the yarn, my hands and arms were killing me. It did turn out super cute though so I guess it was worth it.....all in the name of crafts! The original pin linked me to Esty (another obsession) and the Etsy asking price was $45! I will lose all feeling in my hands and fingers for a few days to avoid that kind of price!
Happy July 4th! So just when I regained feeling in my yarn wrapped ravaged fingers, I stumbled across this Pro-American flag on Pinterest and just knew I had to make it for a friend who's son was getting ready to leave for the Marine Corps, she is just the best gal and deserves good stuff! You use small pins to secure each tiny square that goes onto the wreath.....I was smart with this one though and spread the work out over a week so, I don't think I have permanent wreath damage in my fingers. It is a lot of work but I think it's so pretty that I will be making one for my own house this year!
This was MUCH easier than the yarn wrapping and felt pinning.....I went to our local Goodwill, grabbed this vine wreath for $3, I also found some sheets at the Goodwill that I thought would look great turned into the flowers so I grabbed them too. I found the "M" at Joann Fabrics and yep I wrapped it with the twine, glutton for punishment?
And the one I made my beautiful mamma! Don't tell her, but this was the easiest wreath ever! It involved very little effort, LOVE THAT! Again, I hunted this vine wreath down at the local thrift shop for cheap, I like cheap! I also found the fake flowers there. I went to Michael's for the "family" wooden sign, a little paint, hot glue (aka the crafters best friend) annnnnd done!
So now, now I am attempting this beauty......
AND maybe this one too
This weekend I will hit up my local craft stores to gather the materials and then I will let the crafting begin!! If anyone wants to join me, come on over....bring with you.....glue sticks, wine, felt, wine, straight pins, wine, heart shaped styrofoam wreath, wine, coordinating medium width ribbon, wine, burlap, wine, and more burlap. If you can't come over, or can't come over with wine, I will be posting a tutorial with pics so you too can have a lovely wreath ;)
